Alright, baseball fans. It looks like the Rays have an 11 – 1 lead against the most recent “World Champions” the Boston Red Sox. This means that the Rays will probably have a 3-1 lead in the ALCS and will win the series. As a Yankees fan with 2004 engrained in my memory, I say anything can happen, but it looks like the SOX R DUNNNNNN!111!!

R.I.P. Alexei Cherepanov
October 13, 2008Alexei was the greatest thing that happened to the New York Rangers in a long time. Today he collapsed during the third period of an Avangard Omsk match after colliding with former Ranger superstar Jaromir Jagr, and died. Although the details are not immediately clear, it seems as though the ambulance stationed at all KHL games, left early, and took a while to return.
Nicknamed the Siberian Express, Cherepanov was in his second season with Avangard, a team in southwestern Siberia. In his rookie season in the RSL, Cherepanov had more points than now-NHL stars Evgeni Malkin, Alexander Ovechkin and Ilya Kovalchuk did in their first seasons in the Super League at the age of 17. In March 2007, Cherepanov surpassed the Russian league rookie goal scoring record previously held by Pavel Bure (17 goals).
On June 22, 2007, Cherepanov was drafted in the 1st round, 17th overall by the New York Rangers in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, despite being considered by many rankings to be a top 5 prospect, and the top European available. Among the reasons offered by analysts for his lingering in the draft was the lack of a new transfer agreement between the NHL and the International Ice Hockey Federation concerning players in the Russian Hockey Federation, though Russian players can simply give two-weeks’ notice and leave any team, as was the case with Pittsburgh’s Evgeni Malkin.
On November 5, 2007 Cherepanov was named RSL Newcomer of the Year for the ‘06-’07 Season.
On October 3, 2008 Alexei tied the Avangard Omsk goal scoring streak record with goals in 6 consecutive games.
R.I.P. Alexei, you were a world class talent.

Hello!
October 12, 2008Wow, I have not checked this in several months. Looking back on it, I completed maybe 30% of what I set out to accomplish. Today I finished my second application, and all I have to do is send it, but I’m waiting to get a second opinion on my essay.
Woo.

Bonjourno!
May 19, 2008Hi internet.
I’m sorry that I haven’t kept up this site. I promise, for real. No more sporadic filler posts, real hardcore thoughts, or as hardcore as thoughts can get.
I’ve been away so long that I haven’t gotten a chance to use the new WordPress interface. Its nice! Good job guys.
I’ll give a rundown of my life since march
- Saw many different universities and colleges.
- Went on a two week vacation to MIlan.
- Passed my road test. I’m officially a licensed driver!
- Finally started hanging out with my friends again.
- As hard as I try, I’m still averaging high 70s in math, and mid 80s in french.
- Took the SATs on May 3rd, and am patiently waiting for the results.
- Trying to kick it up a notch, and finish with a report card I’m proud of.
So as you can see, my life is still school – centric. I’m trying to get everything I want packed into the next month, to have an all rounded good year that I can look on back and say, “it was worth it”. Because, next year = COLLEGE APPS. Intense, I know.
Hopefully I can move forward now with some more interesting posts, now that I’ve gotten my recap up to date.

TAMPA, Fla. — Billy Crystal will get to “look mahvelous” in pinstripes.
The actor will sign a one-day, minor league contract with the New York Yankees and play in Thursday’s exhibition game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
“I know this’ll be tougher than the Broadway Softball League, but I’m looking forward to helping the younger players, which by the way is all of them. Oops, I have to go, Scott Boras is on the phone.”
–Billy Crystal, in a statement released by the Yankees
Crystal, an avid Yankees fan, will work out with the team on Wednesday and will wear uniform No. 60 for the game — to be played one day before his 60th birthday. The Yankees said Monday they have the approval of baseball commissioner Bud Selig.
“I’ve been waiting 50 years for this call,” Crystal said in a statement released by the team. “I’m overwhelmed by the generosity of the Yankees and commissioner Selig. I know this’ll be tougher than the Broadway Softball League, but I’m looking forward to helping the younger players, which by the way is all of them. Oops, I have to go, Scott Boras is on the phone.”
Crystal, according to the Yankees hit .348 and was captain during his senior year at Long Beach High School in New York. He directed and produced “61*,” a move about Roger Maris, Mickey Mantle and the 1961 Yankees.
“The Yankees are excited to welcome the newest member of our team known for his humor and wit as well as his undying love for the Yankees,” chief operating officer Lonn Trost said.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi, after Monday night’s 4-0 win over Cincinnati, said he hasn’t determined what position Crystal will play.
“That remains to be seen,” Girardi said. “Obviously, it’s kind of exciting. Billy Crystal has done a lot for this organization. He’s always been a big part of it. Our way of rewarding him, saying thanks for everything that you’ve done.”
Country singer Garth Brooks has played in spring training games, helping raise money for his Touch ‘em All Foundation. He was 1-for-22 (.045) in 1999 with the San Diego Padres, 0-for-17 the following year with the New York Mets and 1-for-8 (.125) in 2004 with the Kansas City Royals.
